American homeowners have been opting for metal roofing for a while now but a new metal roofing trend is gaining even more popularity.

According to Inman, brightly colored metal roofing is expected to be one of the more common homeowner trends over 2018 and beyond.

Typically, when it comes to home design, deep blues, crisp whites, bright reds, and other colors are used for doors, windows, siding, and other parts of the home — and rarely the roof. But that is starting to change.

The Metal Roofing Alliance (MRA) states that brightly hued roofs are the emerging trend for 2018.

“In years past, the tendency has been towards earth tones and subtle colors that blend in,” said Renee Ramey, executive director of the MRA. “This year, homeowners are seeking out bolder shades that draw attention and make their home distinctive. People are getting creative and they are finding that the latest shades of metal roofing options allow them to do just that.”

In addition to the aesthetic benefits that metal roofing provides homeowners, there are plenty of additional advantages of selecting metal roofs for a home:

• Durability — Metal roofs are much stronger than other roofing materials. A metal roof can protect an entire home from suffering major damage in bad storms because of its 140 mile per hour wind rating.
• Longevity — Rather than having to frequently replace asphalt shingles, metal roofing can last much longer. In fact, a quality metal roof can protect a home for multiple decades because of its ability to sustain strong winds and other severe weather conditions.
• Maintenance — Along with being resistant to extreme weather conditions and rotting, metal roofs are much easier to maintain than other materials. Low maintenance on a quality roof is the best case scenario for property owners.

The housing market goes through changes all the time, but it seems like metal roofing, and specifically colorful metal roofing, is here to stay.
